Who I Am, And Why I'm Here...

My name is Kriss Luckett-Ziesemer, and I am the owner of Blue Lotus Massage Therapy. Thank you for taking time to visit my website! Massage is a second career for me, but it's by far the most rewarding profession I have ever held. In addition to being a massage therapist, I am also a musician, writer, wife and mom, pet rescuer, gardener, bread baker, sci-fi nerd, and jewelry designer.

Although I have only been a licensed massage therapist for a few short years, I've been interested in the healing arts all my life. Here's the short version of how this became my career choice...when I first graduated college, I was an interior designer. I moved to Chicago to take my first design job, which turned out to be VERY demanding, in every way imaginable. While working on one of my last job sites in Chicago, I injured my back. Shortly afterward I moved to Indianapolis, and moving everything I owned made my back pain even worse. By the time the move was complete, I was in so much pain I couldn't even climb the stairs to my second-floor apartment.

Soon afterward, I reconnected with an old friend from college who had become a massage therapist, and she was working for a chiropractor. I explained my situation to her, and she convinced me to come to her office. When I did, X-rays revealed that I had a herniated disc in my low back, and it was causing an impingement of my sciatic nerve. I was sure I would need pain killers, extensive physical therapy, and possibly even surgery. But with competent chiropractic care and my friend's therapeutic massages, I was pain-free in only six weeks...no drugs, no invasive procedures. I was also a brand-new believer in massage therapy as a valid form of natural healing.

The next several years of my life, I spent my free time focusing on various aspects of healing arts, and although I didn't know it at the time, I was collecting information that I would use as a massage therapist. I studied essential oils and aromatherapy, yoga, healing properties of natural stones, different methods of energy healing, holistic medicine, nutrition, and anatomy and physiology with regard to fitness. One day it finally became clear to me that I was on a very specific path, and I needed to take the next step.

So in May 2014, I enrolled at Advanced Massage Therapeutics in Louisville, KY, and graduated in June 2015 and opened my studio in beautiful downtown Madison, Indiana. Thank you for being a part of my journey...let me be a part of yours!
